Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its own results. Tennessee Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its servers.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be retained so the team can respond and maintain the exchange. It is not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.

No Criminal-Record Data on File
Tennessee Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of personal criminal records. Its reference material directs readers to the TBI Criminal Justice Information Services repository, the Tennessee Department of Correction, the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry, Tennessee courts, and public offices across all 95 counties. Tennessee's T.C.A. §38-6-120 dissemination framework governs official TBI criminal-history products, while the Tennessee Public Records Act, T.C.A. §10-7-503, governs access to qualifying government records held by their custodians. Neither law turns this private site into a records repository. Visitor information is not assembled into a consumer report, and this site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies supply the search boxes shown on some pages. Information submitted through those tools is handled under the selected provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider decides how long to retain data and when to share it. Review those terms before sending a query because Tennessee Criminal History cannot control the provider's practices.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to TBI, TDOC, Tennessee court portals, county sheriffs and clerks, legal-aid resources, or outside search services. Once a visitor leaves Tennessee Criminal History, the destination's privacy policy controls. Read that policy before providing personal information.
Advertising companies may use their own systems to measure activity across websites and select interest-based ads. Their tracking is governed by their policies, not by this one.
