1. What This Website Is

Tennessee Criminal History is a private reference site with no government connection. It does not store official records, retrieve case files, perform official checks, or submit filings for a visitor.

The content identifies Tennessee sources such as the TBI Criminal Justice Information Services repository, the Tennessee Department of Correction, the Tennessee Sex Offender Registry, Tennessee courts, and local agencies in all 95 counties. It may also connect visitors with third-party research tools. Official TBI criminal-history dissemination is governed by Tennessee law, including T.C.A. §38-6-120; access to other public records depends on the custodian and the Tennessee Public Records Act, T.C.A. §10-7-503.

2. Rules for Using This Site

Use is permitted only when it is lawful and does not harm the website or another person. A visitor agrees not to:

• Do anything that slows the site down or blocks other people from using it
• Run a bot, scraper, or other automated collection tool against the pages
• Attempt to enter protected systems or obtain unauthorized access
• Use information to stalk, threaten, or harass another person
• Use website content for hiring, housing, lending, or insurance decisions
• Violate any applicable federal, Tennessee, or local law

3. No Harassment, Stalking, or Discrimination

No one may use information from Tennessee Criminal History or a linked tool to stalk, intimidate, threaten, harass, or unlawfully discriminate against a person. The restriction is especially important for Tennessee Sex Offender Registry data. TBI warns that threats, stalking, intimidation, or harassment based on registry information may lead to criminal prosecution or civil liability. The registry supports public safety awareness. It does not authorize confrontation, vigilante conduct, or blacklisting.

4. We Are Not a Consumer Reporting Agency

Tennessee Criminal History is not a consumer reporting agency under the FCRA. It does not create credit reports, background checks, or any other consumer report. Its advertising partners likewise are not presented as services for evaluating applicants, renters, insurance eligibility, or credit. Information from the website or a linked tool may not be used to:

• Do anything else that falls under FCRA rules
• Decide eligibility for a license, permit, or government program
• Assess creditworthiness or determine insurance rates
• Evaluate a prospective renter or housing applicant
• Make an employment or termination decision

When a lawful purpose requires an official check, use the authorized TBI or TAPS channel and obtain qualified guidance on any separate FCRA obligation.

5. No Legal Advice

Website content is general information, not legal advice. It may describe Tennessee records procedures, but it cannot determine how a charge, conviction, warrant, or expungement law applies to an individual matter. Consult a Tennessee-licensed attorney for that advice.

6. No Warranties

All website content and functions are offered "as is." No promise or warranty is made that:

• Results from our partner search tools will be thorough or accurate
• The pages will be free from bugs, mistakes, or security weaknesses
• Website service will always remain available or uninterrupted
• Published information will always be complete, current, or correct

Tennessee records change as charges are filed, resolved, corrected, made confidential, or expunged. Updates can lag between a county source and a statewide system. Content here must not be treated as an official statement from TBI, TDOC, a Tennessee court, a sheriff, or another public office.

Tennessee Criminal History is not responsible for their content, availability, fees, security, or data practices. Review the destination's terms before using it.

8. Intellectual Property

Text, graphics, logos, and code are owned by Tennessee Criminal History or its content partners. They may not be copied, distributed, adapted, or used to create derivative work without prior written permission.

9. Limits on Our Liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, Tennessee Criminal History is not liable for damage arising from website use, including action taken in reliance on content found here or through a linked service.

10. Indemnification

A visitor agrees to indemnify and hold Tennessee Criminal History harmless from claims, demands, or legal actions caused by that visitor's use of the site or violation of these terms, including related costs and legal fees.
